5 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR KIDS ARRIVE
VBS starts right at 9 am, so please plan to arrive at 8:45 am to get your children checked into their class on time. We have lots of fun activities for the day, so they won’t want to miss a minute! VBS ends at 12 pm.
When you arrive on Monday, you’ll see our volunteers in front of the building ready to welcome you! If you need an on-site registration (limited availability) or have questions, you can ask these ladies. We ask that you walk your children to their classroom, or class drop-off area, and sign them in with their teacher. You’ll pick them up in their classroom and sign them out with their teacher as well. Our team will gladly help you find their classroom or class drop-off area.
What does your child need to bring to VBS? (Besides energy to have fun!) Because the weather is HOT, we suggest bringing a water bottle and putting on sunscreen before your child arrives. The majority of the day will be inside, but we will have outside game time as well as a big surprise on Friday! We do serve a mid-morning snack, but extra water on hand is always a good idea. We also recommend that kids wear close-toed shoes for game time, and they will need to wear socks and shoes on Friday. Also, if they have a Bible, they’ll earn a prize for bringing it, and if not, we have one to give to your child as our gift. We also ask that your kids wear their tie-dye shirts on Thursday so we can take a group picture.
VBS is fun. . .and sometimes messy! On Monday we will be tie-dying T-shirts, and while we’ll have a smock for the kids, there is always a potential for getting messy. On Thursday we will have a painting craft as well, so please dress your kids in play clothes accordingly.
Each year we have a special missions project that we support, and this year our offering will go to Pastor Lal Kumar Chepang. He shares the gospel in a very poor village in remote Nepal, and currently his home is in a run-down government-owned structure that offers little protection from the wildlife which escape from nearby national park areas. We can help him by raising funds to improve his home and also by buying a goat which he can raise. Our goal is to raise $500 for this missionary project. We encourage kids to ask for a couple of extra chores that they might do to earn a little money for the offering. Any missionary giving is completely optional though.
If you would like to purchase the music from this week or donate to the cost of the shirt, the CDs are $5 and a suggested donation for the t-shirt is $5, payable to the pirates at the front!
We’re so excited to have your kids join us on Shipwrecked Isle this coming week as we learn about our great rescue and have a fun-filled time! See you soon!
